Mango Story

Mango opened its doors on September 18, 2003 to the gale force winds of Hurricane Isabel, which swept through the mid-Atlantic region & Richmond. Though its doors were forced to close for several days, the down pour couldn’t dampen our spirits. Days later Mango sponsored a charitable Cut-A-Thon in the parking lot, donating all the proceeds to the Red Cross & providing its team members with their first pay check. The same spirit that propelled us then, has ushered us from the opening of our doors with 8 team members to the present day with over 70 employees & two locations: Libbie & Grove and Short Pump!

Our Name
We chose "Mango" because it means fresh. We wanted "Mango" to be a fresh concept in hair salons. For our team members it means a fresh start in their careers. To Bobbi and Pat it means a fresh start later in life.

Owners
Bobbi and Pat Heaney co-own and manage Mango. Bobbi has over thirty years of industry experience as a Hair Designer in major salons throughout the U.S. She has completed advanced training in both hair styling and salon management. Pat has over thirty years of retail industry experience in senior management and consulting. Pat has an MBA from the College of William & Mary and is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Richmond.
